    Where to buy hose barbs?

I'm looking for single-barbed hose barbs with male pipe thread, in both brass and aluminum. Currently I'm using multi-barbed fittings that I get from McMaster Carr (1/2" ID hose, 1/4 NPT). I've also ordered some stuff from www.portagespecialty.com but neither place has the single barbed fittings in brass or aluminum, only plastics.

Does anyone know of a supplier that could supply these in either brass or aluminum?

Try Enco. Search for "hose fittings". Look at the real catalog pages because a search doesn't turn up everything.

hmm, I just looked at the Enco website, and only saw multi-barbed hose barbs (on page 1053). Am I missing the single-barbed fittings?

Can you machine the extra barbs off using a lathe?
    Thanks

Oops. I missed the single barb part. I looked at their catalog and you're right.

Yes, I suppose I could machine them if I had a lathe, but unfortuantely I don't. Also, that would be very time consuming, and difficult to justify vs. the current cost of less than $0.50/barb. I believe these should be manufactured by somebody in the US, I just need to find them.

I've been looking around @ thomas register, but no luck yet.

Here's a look at the difference b/n single barbed and multi-barbed fittings. FYI, I'm looking for the single barbed fittings because they tend to seal better.

Thanks, Clan. It looks like there's one near me, so I might check them out this weekend.
