Dome!

Hi All ,

i'd like to make a dome on a cnc milling machine , am agood programmer with G-Code , could anyone tell me plz how to do that with 3 Axis only ?

I can think of two ways to do it. One is to cut around the dome in decending z by whatever step you needed and the other would be to cut in 3 axis either across the dome or from the center to one side working your way around.

Heres some g codes that will make a dome using a 1/2" ball end mill.

I used a CAD/CAM Program

How clean of a dome with this g-code make? I mean will there be lots of ridges?

A finishing pass would take car of a lot of it. Acrylic or Glass? If either, you are going to need to sand and buff/polish to get it crystal clear - but shouldn't be too bad.

actually i like this nice work , but unforunatly i don't have such a CAM software so am going to process it with my mind to write the necessery G - Code , .

am Using BObcad software but i don't have it's tutorial to generate such complicated shapes

watzmann if you have bobcad you have cam. What are the dimensions of the dome? Radius and height whould suffice. Give it in inches and I'll see if I can help you.

nice words from you , thanks .

the reaquired dome is 120mm diameter and height is 80mm, when you send me the G-Code ....i'll write it on Bobcam and send it to my machine.

hope to get it soon ,

How do you want the gcode? G90 or G91? Where do you want the start point of the program?
