    Hi All,

This was my job for 15 years. Can you explain your process a bit?

My first step on every assembly project was to travel to another factory doing about the same thing. Then talk to line personell, engineers, and maintenance about how to do it better. Every trip would generate a month's worth of ideas and leads.

o.k , i'll tell you some about my idea , i have a a square Allumanium plate , 5X4 cm, it have a little hole , this hole should be filled with a bolt , and then a little nut.

this process takes much time from workers here , i need to make an simple machine to do that using stepper motors , and micro controllares.

hope to find any source on the net or anyone if have any experiance to tell me even some samples of such projects.

Of course, I don't know what you're doing. But, we used to do a lot of pick and place type applications with air cylinders, air motors, air rotary actuators, etc. Control the devices with electric solenoids and a PLC. Control speeds and torque with air pressure regulators and exhaust port valves. This is all cheap stuff, and easy to modify for that better idea.

i tried to post phots but it seems not allowed here , anyway , i'll try to descripe my project by words ,

i have this square plate ( it's so small ) as i said before , this product is produced with a huge number , but the problem is , when we get it out of the injection machine and it's mold , the product is not clear , it need so machining to get it's chips out of it , and to get it's accurate dimensions .

so am trying to use automation and to build a little machine which can help to fininsh this huge amount of this product without workers ,

you get it now , hope so !

    Smile Automation

This is off topic from the origanol thread, but I have another application I would like to automate. Are you ready? INSERTING HELICOILS. The plan is to insert 3 to 4 different helicoils at one time, be it at different lengths or at different sizes. Our main helicoil is 4-40, followed by 2-56, 10-32, and 6-32. I would want to be able to insert tanged and tangless helicoils and would like to keep the operator involved as little as possible (mainly just load and unload the machine).

What I see is a pick and place machine, that has mult. tools placed on the side for different inserts. The machine grabs a tool, gets some helicoils and inserts them at the different depths (z would need to move at right speedd, depth and return in reverse), which can be 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 the diameter(will need to be done with tool changes and different inserts). I would also like to have a "2 pallet" system so that 1 side is being loaded and one is being assembled.
    OR
A robotic manipulator/arm could be the answer.

My main concern is the electronics and communication that would need to take place with all of the IO's. so that we do not scrap part after part because of a helicoil insertion problem.

Is there anyone who has tackled this or seen a solution ike this, and is there a person who would want to tackle this?

    Thanks,
    Dan Brinkman
