    Help with stepper motor!

Hi! I am building my own cnc miling machine, and I am using this driver circuit for my stepper motors. My question is: what motor should I use, and Where should I buy it? Regards, David

That circuit is a very simple stepper motor driver that may be adequate for a small machine, but may not be suitable for a larger machine.

Can you provide more information about the milling machine that you intend to use?

The circuit requires a 6-wire stepper motor (or an 8-wire motor wired up for unipolar operation).

I know of many places from where you can get such motors, however they are all located in the United States. Perhaps someone else can suggest a local source for you.

My milling machine is about 60X50 cm, and I was thinking of using some nema 23 motors with 270oz/in. Do you think this is a good choice? , and if so; where can I get some "cheap"? If I buy these motors in Norway, they'll cost about 250 USD a piece...

This motor has 6 leads and is rated at 21 kg-cm holding torque (which, if I have done the conversion correctly, is about 290 oz.-in.):

    3.6V/3A/1.8 Deg. NEMA 23 STEPMOTOR-MPJA, Inc.

This looks like the same motor, but with a lower price:

    Did you try both vendors?

Here is a 280 oz-in motor with 8 wires (which can be connected as a 6-wire motor), but it's a bit more expensive:
