If one was to make rims ( I know there is A LOT of ways to make rims) but to make a strong quality rim you would definilty have to have to forged. So would you have some company forge them then you then would you machine them out on a VMC or something? |

| Yes, you are correct. I just left a shop that made wheels from forgings. The customer would provide the forgings and we machined them on Akira Seiki & Haas VMCs. You can buy generic blanks, but most forgings are customer designed. If you have wheel blanks forged they must be heat treated afterwards and one potential problem is how they are racked in the furnace. A run of wheels we did were stacked horizontaly and the hub area sagged. |
