Al,
I stopped wearing one of those contraptions back in 95! The plants I was going to didn't allow ANY jewelry (including watches). Now that I have retired, who cares what time it is???
However, that was a digital watch at the time.
In the digital world we are living in, the majority of us seem to prefer wearing 16th century analogue technology to tell time?
I am a digital time piece fan, but according to friends and family and other observances, I seem to be one of the minority?

Main problem seems to be getting younger folks to understand the difference between
clockwise and anti-clockwise when telling them which way to turn a knob or handle.
Arab writing is right-to-left. That could be an exception?? haha
A have an eachway bet.

The technology is in the Analogue clock, hundreds of miniature parts moves synchronously producing almost exact time... especially the hand made swiss clocks, i love them due to their beauty and heaviness...

I wouldn't imagine people in a CNC forum not liking analogue watches, the world is upside down!
Here's some eyecandy for you:

I build time-manement software for a living and let me tell you, the clocks themselves are nice, but the 12hour time format they normally use are a pain in the rear.
Even with all the libraries and frameworks to help, it is still the single most frustrating thing I have yet to try and do.
Make a system work inside-out with both 24H for all the sane people and am/pm for the rest is enough to make you go from one of the groups to other.
But the clocks are nice, I really like those new takes on such a simple thing as showing timeLike those wall-clocks that are made of words, I have been planning to build one of those... just gotta get my machine built to do it
Also, I am young enough to have never needed an analogue wristwatch, by the time I needed to be somewhere other than school, I already had a mobile phone.
I don't use an analog watch or a digital watch. I have a cell phone my daughter wanted me to use in case of emergency. Only two people have that number so I don't have many incoming calls which suits me just fine
I'm like Bubba, older than dirt. There's a calendar here but I keep forgetting to turn the page.
I know my age because it's here in the upper right corner.
Other than that, who cares?LOL

You might have a digital timepiece but do you have one that displays the time in binary. I do but the problem is it takes me so long to convert by mentally multiplying 2 x 2 x2 etc that I forget why I wanted to know the time. So I rely on my cellphone.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
Of course, there's a reason I said "liking" and not "using"
I actually have an analogue watch myself, haven't used it in 7 years or so (batteries ran out years ago), mostly because I don't like wearing more stuff than needed. I still like reading an analog clock more than reading a digital one
I'd love to design and build a wall clock (have been reading about it for some time), somehow it's far more appealing to me than making an "all electronics" clock (and there are some really cool clocks out there made with mostly discrete components). I'd love digital clocks... if they had gears!
My main time reference is Windows' clock, BTW
This thread made me remember one time in school (I was 15 years old or something like that), when a classmate asked me what time it was. I showed him my watch and he told me "I don't know how to read one of those". Oh, the humanity...
Never mind analogue versus digital in watches. How about digital displays in vehicles made to simulate analogue displays.

Internally, in the software, where I live, in the public transport system uses (or used) a 28 hour clock, so that the wrap around past midnight makes it easy to process.
Don't know how that stuffed up when they started the 'nightrider' bus though.![]()
