once again on the search for online help. Does anyone know of a great online tutorial refrencing Geometric Dimmensioning and Tolerance?
On a side note, I was a machinist and moved on to Inspection. Naturally there is alot for me to learn. I was wondering why i have never seen a Quality Forum. certainly there is plenty to discuss on improving quality and such. I understand the social barriers that are sometimes put up between quality and programmers/operators.. still though, would be nice to break those walls down a little with a forum for all. its just a thought.
GD&T is the greatest thing since running water. Search for ASQ (American Society for Quality) . Enough stuff to last a lifetime. There are publications to explain and tutor. The greatest fear is a machinist not familar seeing the following 0.0000 MMC It means .ooo total tolerance at Maximum Material Condition. It only means that a hole at mimimum diameter (which is maximum material condition) leaves no tolerance. Once you explain that once you make the hole larger this is where the tolerancing comes into play. Web search "GD&T", Tec ease has a tutor. If you let it be known that you inspect to accept rather than inspect to reject and that form, fit and function is your priority, life is much easier. (unless the climate from management is different)
