It doesn't show up in a search. Maybe it's time to revisit this idea? Silly contribution: cycle start monkey - Loads parts and knows the green button from the red button. Cnc knowledge ends there. The last shop I worked at used this term. Is it an industry standard or did we coin a new phrase? The inspiration for my user name btw.

| Driving Error: When you push the Z jog button, but forget you're in Rapid Traverse so instead of the tool jogging in a few microns it rams into your part at six inches per minute while the part is rotating at 6000 RPM, usualy accompanied by pysiologial symptoms such as rapid heart beat, sweating and an uncontrolable urge to profane. Ouch.

| Gravity Clamps - A method of workholding in which the force of gravity alone is used to hold the workpiece for machining. This is the preferred method of novice machinists. Other workholding options, such as existing hydraulic or manual clamps, provide more holding force and should not be dismissed.
