How do you get the satellite photos like the help page shows? DO you have to add overlays for that?

You will see that some areas are photgraphed closer than other areas, allowing you to even see cars parked in parking lots.

EDIT: Oh you will aslo have to wait for the picture details to stream in. I expect for those on dial up you will have to wait a very long time.

Looks similar to nasa's Worldwind program.

Again, some areas of the world are more detailed than others. I believe all the US is on there at down to a 1 meter resolution! I can see ripples in the water by Manhattan. Big program though.

My only problem with a program like this, is it makes terrorist planning much easier.

    Funny you should mention that.

I remember reading on a Worldwind forum that the white-house and pentagon had been blurred for this very reason, but guess what? They're not! They are as detailed as everything else

Hmm, all I know is it worked immediately after install for me and I didnt have to adjust any settings. Sorry I cant help you.
You may need to visit thier FAQ section.
Its a pity when you find something good and you want other to see it too, but they have problems. All I can say is, perservere a bit, I think you will like what it does when you get it working.

OK, I fixed it. It's my dinosaur of a computer. I switched from OpenGL to DirectX and it works fine now. Thanks.

Yeh, that was my first thought after seeing what was possible. Imagine if someone from a country who shall remain nameless could use this info to program their "el cheapo" guided missile using google.earth! Whoa to Allah!
