My wife has been cutting my hair for years and the clippers are beginning to pull just a wee bit. I can (and do) keep keen edges on my knives, scissors, and wood-working chisels. But sharpening the clippers escapes me. So, can anyone either explain how to sharpen these things or point me at a procedure? I googled the net and got 1.7 million ads for dog grooming tools.tia robotic regards, Tom = = = = = If you say no to a good proposal, you will live to regret it. | Clippers can be sharpened by taking the blade off and spray gluing some very fine wet or dry sand paper to a piece of glass. Try different grades depending on how much material you need to remove. The blade is sharpened by removing metal from the entire surface. Place flat side down on the sand paper and use a little water or oil as a lubricant use circular motions and rotate the piece in your hand so the pressure is changed to keep it flat. This grinds the material thinner and makes the edge between the "V"s and the flat part sharp again. The indifidual "V"s are not filed like you would do a knife. Clean the blade well before placing it back in the clippers to remove all grit. |
