| Hi Michael, If you have been told it takes a year to get your SSI after being disabled, someone is not being totally accurate with you. If you will get the yellow pages and look for Attorneys that specialize in SSI cases many times they take the case for a percentage of the back pay that you will be entitled to. I have a friend that went blind in one eye and a cousin that had lung cancer. It would probably have taken them much longer than a year if they had not received help from a lawyer. Mike

| We have filed our first claim, we are told that it takes a minimum of 3 months to hear anything at all back from them... We are extremely low income with a strong desire to not let our health difficulties (we both have several conditions) get us down... We still have 3 small children at home as well as my wives oldest son, his girlfriend and their newborn baby... We were going to be given custody of the baby but thank goodness the kids fell in love with the baby when he was born!!! We would like to start a small home-based business that would allow us to supplement any monies we may get from SSI/SDI... What we need to do this is a CnC machine, a forge, and a metal/wood lathe... These are the things that would help us get our feet in the door and start making some of our original items to take to fraires, sca type events, AND EVERYTHING else we can think of doing!!!! My wife has instructed me to get a list of what all we will need to get to make a small 'ish CnC Machine... Any help here would be sincerely appreciated... What do we need to build any of these items... If anyone has any of the items we need and would like to donate ANY bits and pieces of them to a worthy cause..... I can offer my word that the items would be well used in our effort to help enrich our lives and our childrens lives..... I was told it would likely be best to start with something small, along the lines of a 12"widex3'long base and a cutter head that has a 6" range of up and down movement... In case yo cannot tell, I know just a little about all of this but am intently interested in expanding that knowledge... Please, help us out here... We are not asking for a "hand-out" rather we are asking for "a hand up" Any and/or all assistance will be sincerely appreciated and treasured!!!!! |

| Michael, I wonder if this is the right path for you since you are new to all this. I expect it will take a lot of time to learn everything and get setup. Its not as easy as you may think. I do however have a solution for you that can generate income for you very quickly. A friend of mine buys clothes from Op shops and then sells them on ebay. She usually gets a huge profit from them. She regularly makes $1000 PROFIT per week. She has found a niche of just buying and selling clothes for large women, since retail stores dont cater for large women very well. Since you already have internet connection, there isnt much more you need, other than a digital camera. You could buy a second hand digital camera for 30-50 bucks. After this its just a matter of paying a few dollars for clothes from op shops and selling them on ebay. My friend often tells me that a piece of clothing she payed 2 dollars for can sell for 20 or more bucks. Just a suggestion for in the mean time while you are makng your machine. EDIT: Maybe op shop is an Australian term. short for oportunity shop. The sort of stores that old ladies or charitys run. |
