Hi all,

I'm looking into getting into the wonderful world of cheapskate desktop CNC. As far as I can tell, there are, for lack of a better word, a buttload of options.

I've never done this before. I don't know anybody who's ever done this before. So it's problably best we try to keep this under $1000 so I don't end up killing somebody in the process. What machines do you guys prefer? I found Zenbot, Tonsen, Sable, Lumenlab, etc and I'm just totally overwhelmed and could use some help.

This also means I have no idea what I can get. Can I machine aluminum? Plastic? Circuit boards? I normally use other services for prototyping and PCB fabbing, and I am just looking to cut out the middle man for that for now, not create a hundreds of things.

Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for any help.
