Mainly dealing with castings and mold making supplies.
In this video, towards the beginning, it shows someone using some sort of tool with a laser beam (infared?) and a digital readout. Anyone know what it is and what it checks?

That was my first thought. But he's holding the piece, and the "tool" is reading over 200. Surely he wouldn't be holding something that's over 200degrees?

I deal with ceramics, and know a thingor two about holding hot things. 200 F is not that hot. Paper burns at 451 F (they made a movie about that once). Besides, he's (she's) holding it with his fingertips (ie. minimal contact). I regularly pull stuff out of kilns at 200-220 F.

Ya.. Me too..
It mostly depends on the surface your touching...
Go find someone who washes dishes for a living.. They wont think that 200 is anything.
