    Router bits for sign making

New to CNC routing and would like some advise on a list of router bits for sign making. Am particularly interested in what the best bit is for clearing areas and leaving the smoothest flat bottom. Would appreciate any assistance.

Depends a little on the material. For hardwoods, you'll get the smoothest surface from a carbide tipped straight bit or an upcut spiral. The problem is that they may leave a rough or chipped edge on the surface of your material. But it really takes a bit of trial and error to see what works best for you. If your V Carving, you'll want some V-bits. Sharper points for smaller letters (45° or 60°), and wider angles for larger letters (90° or 120°). If you're doing 3D carving, some ballnose or tapered ballnose.
