Hello every one, I am getting to the age of ?? well! age discrimination against myself, that's new. Really I am more active than a lot of people much younger but sometimes the learning process seems to be taking a little longer. Giving credit to myself, I forsaw the coming of the age of computers a few years ago buying a commodore 64, then a ibm laptop with the 1st 720 drive and windows 1.1 and everyone thought I was nuts! Several years before that I purchased a New Hermes engraver and did CB coffee breaks on the weekends cleaning up about $250-300 a day till that died out and was stupid in selling that too! A couple years ago I thought about getting ready for retirement my wife thinks I should be prepared to keep doing something so I took up woodworking, turning, etc, as a hobby and ended up building my own kitchen cabinets, crown molding and other things I won't mention. Last year at 69 working 4 days a week 12 hours a day as a printer making paper napkins I leased a golf driving range but that was not enough, my daughter thought it would be a good idea to add a mini golf..... well this year I registered my boat again and said it is time to fish, no driving range. Well then I thought about the engraving, ventured onto cnc information and now I am trying to figure this all out. Originally was interested in a Carvewright, having second thoughts is why I am here! Welcome to the zone Johcar, it's the most satisfying thing in the world to hold something in your hand that you hacked out of a lump of raw material and think "not a lot of people could have done that".

| OK, I'm not as old as I am. My first computer was a TRS-80 with cassete drive. To give you an idea of how long ago this was, I had a problem with a Microsoft program on cassete and called Microsoft--Bill Gates answered the phone! CR.

| Wow, Heck and so forth. I'm a young 57 and remember every computer you guys referenced. When I upgraded my trash-80 to 16 K of memory, I thought the world was in my hands with all that memory. Then a bit later, I bought my first 40 meg hard drive. Will anyone ever need that much memory??? Sorry, Jocar, don't mean to hijack your thread! You guys just got the ole memory juices flowing! Jocar, this is the place that will keep you young. Cnc is a wonderful hobby. You can even make money with it if you don't count your time and monetary investment in equipment!!!! Have fun and a pleasure to meet you! Bill

| After my TI, I got a Compaq Portable (luggable 26 pound 120 volt 9" crt). It had a monstrous 20 mg hard drive I partitioned into (2) 10 mg sections. Since then, maybe 10 others. But I still have the Compaq and the IBM (Epson) printer on a shelf in a closet. LOL Dick Z
