I am brand new to this DIY CNC wood router idea. I am a bass guitar builder and believe this could help in the process. The first thing I am trying to understand is what stepper to use. I am sure there are other threads for this, but I have not found them. And if that is the case please direct me to them. Thank you for your help and I apologize for my ignorance.

what is the size of the router?

Thank you to both of you. I was thinking a 2' x 4' and the router is milwaukee 5615 1 3/4 hp, at least that is what I have right now.
Steppers should be one of the last things to choose. Choosing a stepper depends on many factors. How fast do you want to cut, how fast do you want to accelerate, how much weight are you moving, how are you moving it (screws, rack and pinion....). Also, two different motors with the same torque rating can perform very differently on the same machine using the same drives. The steppers also need to be matched to the drives you'll be using.
