We are really excited about building this one !! The end result will have a 4' x 8' travel "X" and "Y". The Majestic AC Servo's running on single phase, 10 HP HSD 28,000 RPM spindle with an 8 station wine rack ATC and a Vacuum table. It will be controlled with Mach 3 using the Majestic all in one pc, Bob Campbell's combo board and Warp 9's Smooth Stepper. The bridge design is still on the drawing board. Deciding if height or rigidity is what is needed for this one. Naturally, this will decide how much "Z" travel it will have. The X & Y will run on rack and pinion, "Z" will be driven by a ball screw. All 3 axis will ride on Linear rails. Current calculations are showing insane rapid rates. The AC servos can run up to 3,000 RPM with 1 HP each. If I run it 1:1, with a 1.125 diametrical pitch, that equals 10,597 IPM. So, I think I will use a 5:1 and roll it about 2,000 IPM with all the torque needed for the cut too. I am optimistic that we can have this one done in a month. The 3 pic's posted now are from week 3. I look forward to any suggestions and comments about the build. THANKS !! ![]() Kirk |

| I'm guessing that this one is not really for home garage use? Looks and sounds like an ambitious project. I'm watching. Btw, good wine doesn't age well in an automatic tool changer. Just thought I would point that out. CarveOne

| With all the strength and rigidity that you have already built in I don't think I would sacrifice it for a little more z height That being said, with the way you are building, I bet you could have a 12" Z without giving up any strength.Green with envy Mike |

| Just a quick update. I put the power to it today and looks good. Using my laptop and getting it to bounce around was sweet ! Spindle sounds ok.... I am using a "new to me" VFD and cant seem to get the decel / accel right or I am missing something.. It squeals when it takes off and stops. I have installed a good sized regen resister so stopping for the ATC shouldnt be a problem.. If I change the timing, it coasts.... My lack of experience with this VFD is 100% of the problem .... It will be solved shortly. I did however change to a 15HP 24,000 RPM spindle. The 10 just looked too small. I have added a pic of the electrical cabinet and control console. I have put wheels on the console but am not 100% sure I like it. It rolls around just fine. Should I be able to roll it around or have it stationary and use a remote MPG with start / stop and e-stop? I would sincerely like to hear what anyone else thinks. ![]() Kirk |

| That's an interesting gantry riser design. Looks really sturdy. I like it just for its "elegant looks". Another 100 pics requested in addition to ger21's request for 100 pics. CarveOne

Questions: 1. Is the stand made of steel, or aluminum? 2. Is this machine for in-house use, to be produced for sale, or a one-off build for a customer. 3. Will the plans be available here after I win the state lottery? ![]() Really nice work being done there..... CarveOne

| Hello all and thanks for the replies ! I will get more pics too. To answer Med-Pac, The Vacuum table has not been installed yet. I am putting 1" PVC on it and will machine it where it lays. CarveOne, 1. The stand is made of sheet metal steel. 2. It is being produced with the intent to sell. 3. Can't win if you don't play ! I don't think I will be giving those away any time soon. Never know though...... ![]() Kirk |

| Is that the vacuum pump lurking in the background of the control cab picture? It looks like it matches everything else in beefiness.
