Using HP LaserJet III stepper motors with JGRO plans

Lurch,

Machine build looks great so far! I hope you got some useful information from the HP LaserJet II/III Stepper Motor data sheet I put together. Let me know if there are any changes or information you'd like to add based on your building/interfacing experience.

Currently I'm working on my own machine (weather permitting) but haven't made it as far as you. I'm anxious to hear how the HPLJ-II/III stepper motors perform with the HobbyCNC 4AUPC Chopper Driver Board Kit. Personally, I am leaning towards the 4 Axis Unipolar Drive Kit from Xylotex but haven't comitted one way or the other, yet. I like how the Xylotex board gives you access to all of the parallel port pins through its interface (unlike the HobbyCNC board which seems to drop pins 1, 14, 16 & 17).

Keep up the good work and keep everyone posted on your progress.

Following in your footsteps...

Unhappy Autopsy, and reclaim has begun...

I gave up on getting all of the binding out of my axis after several days worth of work to get them corrected. I have dismantled the current router, and salvaged all hardware. I am already cutting pieces for a smaller cabinet-type router, look for yukonho's thread for a picture. I did get the motors to turn on the old router, though only with everything unhooked mechanically.
I hate to start over at this point, but I have learned alot, and the wife will be happier with the cabinet style contained router unit. I can't wait to get up and running....Will start a new thread with all the details. Thanks guys for all of your support and encouragment.
