| I split mine from the beginning. I haven't had to tighten them up yet. The screws are just tight enough to keep the screws from moving. I would put the split in. If backlash occurs at a later date, you'll have a way to correct for it rather than dissassemblig the machine to fix it. jgro |

| I was getting 30 ipm with my first machine. That's using a Xylotex driver and a 24v power supply with 116 oz stepper moters. Right now I'm running my new machine at 45 ipm. I can probably go faster, but I wanted to get all of the kinks out first before I tried. jgro |
