Or is that a train !?! Spent the last few days disassembling and realigning the X axis drives and the last 5 hours or so shiming the ballscrew supports to get everything true and properly aligned. I was having problems getting my head around the various problems so had to step away from them for awhile before it struck me what was wrong. Pretty happy with the dual axis X now and will finish tweaking the home sensors and ballscrews visavie each other to get the maximum travel I can out of them. This should be just shy of 2500mm and is going to be tricky to ensure that I don't do too far and spit the balls out of the ball nut... ask me how I know ... whats worse ive done it at least 3 times now by accident. getting good at repacking the nuts!Z axis is fast and smooth except at very slow speeds and I get horrible vibrations for the stepper which is amplified by tlong Z axis arm... hopefully swaping to servos will remedy this. The next challenge is going to get the Y axis mounted and aligned. Issues still to sort out: Get the Huanyang plugin to stop the spindle when an external estop is hit Mount gantry dust shield Finish bed and put in some sail track extrusion for hold downs Patch some air leaks Install a check valve on the couterbalance circuit Design dust extraction boot Tidy up some wiring and most important get some more pics posted. Cheers Mark |
