Hello Micke.
If you want you can try to ask your questions in a Swedish forum, there are a lot of people who are using Mach3 there.
Me to.

Hi!

Per.e Yes i now, i'm a member their, proberbly check in a little later.

Carveone: I now that i can use the step per inch or mm test (have tested that it moves as it should do). But that really don't the problem here, it's ONLY pockets cut that comes out in the wrong dimensions other cuts come out in right dimensions so if i start change the steps the other cuts will be messed up?!.Or is just my brain that stopped working after all thinking

I had this issue before i rebuild it also, i didn't solve the problem just did a little fake thing, i change the tool diameter in cambam and said it was smaller than it really were, didn't change tool in reality. That help it out and was good enough but i don't think thats the right solution, the problem is still their.

I had played around with just a pen this morning but ofcourse i have suddenly get one more problem. When i do a square it makes two of the corners rounded and two corners sharp, what the f*** is that? I just draw a rectangle in cambam and it gets like that!? And it's not the machine that flexes, you can really see how it moves diffrent. Can't figure it out why, maybe because I had played around with some settings but can't get it right again.

I'm really thankful for the help!

It doesn't look like I'm being of much help so far. If it isn't hardware and it isn't software then that only leaves electrical. (Or you have cnc gremlins in your shop.)

I really don't know what to tell you about the difference in measurements of pockets versus other cuts.

Have you tried a mach wizard or something other than cambam for the pockets?

Hello Micke,

Just came across your posts and noticed this comment...

...When i do a square it makes two of the corners rounded and two corners sharp, what the f*** is that?
One reason I could see for this is constant velocity (CV) mode. This is a feature of Mach which is usually a good thing, for smoothing out sequences of small moves. However, if your CV settings in Mach are a bit out, it can result in problems like this.
CV mode can be turned off for each machining operation in CamBam. Under the machining properties there is a setting called VelocityMode. If you change this from ConstantVelocity to ExactStop and regenerate the gcode, it may help things.

To get CV working nicely in Mach, look at your acceleration setting. If this is too slow, you can get rounded corner problems. There are also some settings in Mach general config to control CV which may take some experimentation.

If your toolpaths still don't come out the right size, feel free to upload your gcode or .cb files here and I will have a look.

Good luck!

Hi!

I'm really sorry if i sounded angry in my last post! Didn't mean to, were pretty mad on the big thing in the garage

10Bulls: THANK YOU! I played around with the acceleration and now it really seems to be working! no weird corners!

Haven't tried do any pockets so don't know if it works better.
If it's still comes out a little small what can that be? Some more settings in mach that can affect this?

Mikael

Does your machine move the correct distance in each axis when you measure it? Yes? So far so good...

Then try hand coding a simple g-code file, something like this...

G0 X0 Y0
G1 Z-1
G1 X50 Y0
G1 X50 Y50
G1 X0 Y50
G1 X0 Y0

If you cut this in something soft, like foam, you should get a square where the outer dimensions are 50 + tool diameter (and inner square = 50-tool diameter).

If that doesn't work then maybe backlash is the problem.
If this works, then try cutting the file again in something harder like MDF... if this gives you a different result then it could be runout on your spindle bearings...can you wobble the spindle shaft by hand?

If all the above is working, and your CAM generated g-code is still out upload your g-code here and we can check it out.

Good luck!
