Tool change

I am lurking around the net looking for info on collets/drawbars/quick chucks and so on to see if it is possible to make an ATC on my DIY machine.

Know I have seen someone in here done this , and it was using a springloaded chuck to adapt the tools, but have not been able to find the thread again, even think i saw a video of this project here or on youtube.

The thing back then , i think, was a discussion about the rapid cahnge chuck was able to withstand the 30k rpm, dont know if anoyone came to a conclusion?

Are there anyone out there sitting on some links to suppliers of these chucks?

I am using a regular router on my machine with 6/8 or 12 mm tool shafts, but would sure like to go on trying to make ATC.

Any links to DIY projects and suppliers (within reasonable price range) are appriciated.

Thanx
Cory

Tool changer

I think this is what you are looking for http://www.hightechsystemsllc.com/rapid_changer.html

I bought one but was not happy with it....the shank is a screw in and concentricity was problem..I never got to the rpm of 10,000 because of the vibration.. I ended up making my own....it works well but is limited on rpm as well....i can run about 12,000 rpm safely, after that the centricical force compresses the spring and will release the tool...I have the heaviest spring and preload for the area you have to work with for travel...most things i cut work at the lower rpm
