A quick question for the forum users. I have to two servo motors, but they do not have encoders installed. To purchase the encoder from the motor company is really expensive so I plan to purchase a 3rd party encoder (CUI, US Digital or Renco). The motor will be directly attached to one end of the ball screw (no timing pulley). Why couldn't the encoder be mounted to the other end of the ball screw shaft? With the opposite end of the ball screw shaft you can turn it to the exact size required to attach the encoder of your choice.
I thank all of you for all the wisdom that is shared on the forum. |
