Haven't tried it, but here's another 3D CAM software. I believe they do offer discounts for hobby/non professional use as well...

Ok, here's one of the more weird pictures of my machine...

Got the bottom layer of MDF mounted the other day, and today I then glued the other sheet of MDF (spoilboard or vacuum board) on top. I needed a bit of weight to hold it down. So after I danced around on it for about 10 minutes, then I just loaded whatever I had laying around on top, and this is the outcome...

Oh and just to let you guys know.

It's fine you want to discuss Cam programs and such, but longer discussions belongs in the cam groups. I know I might get a bit unliked when saying this, but I don't think discussing what types of Cam programs is out there, benefits this thread in any way. This is afterall a build log..

Hope I haven't offended anyone by this.

I have a large vacuum pump laying around, I will test it out over the next week, to have it tested. If it works as it should, then I'll definetly use it as the vacuum pump for the table. I will be creating 4-6 zones on the top maybe even 8 just for versatility.

And I also think I will be creating a set up vacuum pads to place on top of the machine for edge routing without cutting into the table.

I'm still pondering how I will seal the MDF sheet after I have routed the vacuum bed.

    A small update...

Have gotten the table surfaced, looks really really good. Home and limit switches work as a charm... The Inductive sensors work great for this type of machine.

Am thinking of doing a bit of sound deadening on the main tubes, not that it's needed when running a program, but anything to keep the noise levels down. I just love the Chinese spindels, they are extremely silent... So I will try and keep noises to a minimu, even though I know that when cutting wood, then noise is remarkable difficuelt to get rid of.

Next up is the dust hood for the spindle... So I can get my Bill Pentz cyclone running again....

I will take a few pictures tomorrow...

Just curious here Kim as wood routing isn't my forte but I would like my next build to be just that a wood router but what is a Bill Pentz cyclone?... if my understanding is correct is this your chosen method of dust extraction?... the only reason I ask is that as you know but maybe some reading your thread maynot know that Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)Formaldehyde and Cancer Risk - National Cancer Institute is manufactured with the use of Formaldehyde which is a huge Carcinogenic compound Formaldehyde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (scroll down the page to the safety section) which many people are not aware of and they cut the MDF freely without adequete extraction

Yes a Bill Pentz Cyclone, is a Cyclone separator system, which will remove the dust from the machine, and separate the particles from the air, and empty them into a closed bin.
There will be mounted airfilters on the exhaust air from the cyclone, so there should be no trouble and extremely little dust from the MDF to be inhaled.

I know the dust from MDF is some very bad stuff, and it can give several complications on a daily basis if too much is inhaled. So I will do my best to reduce dust in the shop as much as possible...

I'm sorry, not to have any pictures today, but have been feeling a bit under the weather today, so I opted for a day with a few movies and naps instead.
