    Hot wire

What is a good size (gauge) wire to run from the power supply 24vdc 8A to my hot wire (bow). The wire will need to be 15' long.

I built a hot wire machine with a 13 foot wire and experimented with different size wires, I found that with the thicker wires I could run a lower voltage but it was never less than 60v, but with the thicker wire it was alot sloppier of a cut. The thinner wires work better with less curf but you have to run a higher voltage. You might want to go with the thinner wire and just use a dimmer switch or something simpler that would give you a higher voltage, it's cruder but works.
