Newbie- Need Tool For Maching Letters and Numbers

Is there a tool available to Machine Letters and numbers into a casting?

Yes I know a 1/16 inch ball nose end mill works. I am looking for other ideas and a or a quicker way to speed up cycle time.

You do get machine like the Marking Devil is a stand alone CNC controlled dot-peen system for marking steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics, and are not silly prices!

You can always try Harvey Tool they have a lot of different carbide engraving tools which you may be able to run at higher feeds & speeds. I added the link below.

Hi sdesters

Have you tryed a centre drill this works quite well & you may be able to get
about 10 IPM or more it will depend how deep you are cutting

Astonlee that tooling that mctooling is selling is great I saw it at the last IMTS show this is what I use

I wonder if woodworking V carving bits would work. They are solid carbide.
