I just purchased a Hougen RotaBroach 12648 (1.500"dia x 1.0doc) with a 0.750 shank with two weldon flats at 90deg to eachother. The problem I am having is finding a tool holder for the cutter. The center of the weldon flat is only 0.500" from the top of the tool. All of the endmill holders I've found with a 0.750" hole have a set screw that is 1.000" from the bottom of the holder. Any help would be much appreciated. |

| If the tool has a long enough shank, just grind your own flat on it. I do this to carbide endmills when needed. The flat doesn't need to be nearly as large or as deep as they generally are supplied. I have a 3/4" carbide endmill that I regularly run at 130% spindle load on a 20hp Haas that has a flat that's probably only 1/16" deep, if that. It aint pretty either, but it sure works well. |

| Thanks for the reply. The problem was that the shank was really short, so grinding it was out of the question. After some digging through McMaster I found an arbor adapter 31315A254. We haven't used it yet, but it looks like it should work nicely. It comes with a spring installed to have a pilot/ejector installed, but we removed it so we can use TSC. Thanks again, Mike Hoyer |
