Alternative ??? to Porter Cable 7518 Router | | I have had a Porter Cable 7518 on my 4 by 8 cnc table for about 5 years - just doing prototyping and signs from 3/4" thick and above mdf. I think that I have about 125 hours on the router -
the brushes are fine but the bearings are going / gone.
I am just wondering if there is an alternative router that will stand up to the abuse of cutting 3/4" thick mdf at 90 inches per minute in one pass using a whiteside mortise compression bit.
The porter cable is an amazing workhorse but rebuild prices are a little crazy and way too frequent. The bearings aren't good for much more than about 3 to 5 weeks for the work I have coming up.
I finally have a few jobs that will require running the machine for about 25 hours a week and until I start generating some money I can't even consider a spindle.
Any advice would be appreciated! |
