    Water Cooled Spindle

I did a search to try to find the answer to my question before posting but could find nothing. Although I think someone has to have answered this I ask again:
I have a water cooled Chinese spindle. Of course, it came with absolutely no instructions. I have it working and it is being fed water through a Harbor Freight pump that works great. My question is should I be using just water as a coolant or is there some other chemical solution to prevent algae, mold, etc. which I could add to the water(or replace altogether) that is safe for the spindle? Any help would be most appreciated!
    Sylvan
