... I purchased 6 CMT ER32 ISO 30 Taper tool holders. Five are identical. The sixth one, though dimensionally identical, has a different finish on the entire tool holder and also has a hole extending into the taper, while the other five do not.
I am waiting for an explanation from the their end but also wanted feedback here... if I can get any.
I am not so concerned about the finish, though the nut tightens by hand a LOT easier (no drag) and the others are nice and tight. What concerns me the most, is the hole going up the taper. I have never seen this before. Is it normal?

Not familiar with the company/product name "CMT".
A hole through the holder is very desirable now that so many machines have coolant-through spindles. The hole is also useful should you have a bone-headed operator tighten the collet & nut assembly in the wrong fashion, such as the collet not being properly snapped into the nut before tightening.
While most reputable holder manufacturers insist upon consistent looks and function for their products, not all make their own. This may be a case of that "CMT" company got 5 pieces from one supplier, then more from a different one.
