Just as an fyi regarding how HSK holders work:
I have a 100 mm 350V 5.5 kw? liquid cooled spindle running an ER 20 Collet system.
I am getting a little impatient with changing the collets and woud like to go for an upgrade or even an adaptor system ( if available) that would allow me to just load up pre set Tooling wether it me by simple insertion or using an ATC system.
The idea of having through the centre cooling would be great but obviously not suitable with my current spindle or an adaptor.
I am finding the holder systems quite intriguing with the CAT or BT systems seeming to offer a very sturdy and pricise mounting with the draw bar or pull stud. While the HSK type is a mystery to me at this stage -I did read some where that it was relying on centrifgal force to seat and locate the adaptor but I don't see how it actually locks it in place when stationary.
I am guessing that if were possible to "upgrade" that the HSK system
would be easier BUT I am only guessing and woud appreciate any advice on the suitability and possibly the best place to purchase the appropriate adaptor or spindle necessary.
Thanks for the heads up with the link it was most informative.
I emailed Trans Con to see what the adaptor kit for HSK was all about and am waiting on a response.
Alternately new HSK spindle might be in order - Does any body know where I might be able to purchase a good quality spindle without having to look at another mortgage ?
