I'm trying to tap a #6-32 hole in 8 places on a 1" diameter part using a live tool with a tap head, along x axis. I've talked with omniturn, ECI, and engbar, and am not having any luck finding tooling. I'm looking for either a live tool with a reversing spindle, or a self reversing tap head. So far all companies have told me what I need to do cant be done on an omniturn, will need to do it in a mill as a seperate op. The live tool's I have are foredom's with a 1 direction only spindle, at 1/3 horsepower. I've already been greatly disillusioned by the limited milling capabilites of this machine, not seeing any return on our $5000 c-axis option investment per machine. Does anybody know of any gang style lathes with live tool tapping I'm talking about here?
