Hi,
I am trying to adapt a rack & pinion Solsylva machine for tangential knife cutting. This is for cutting corrugated cardboard, chipboard, museumboard and other architectural modeling products.
My question is oscillating knife VS ultrasonic.
In case of oscillating knife I would like to know if a power chisel (for woodcarving) could be adapted to this with a simple Exacto blade. It would need to reciprocate at 3000 - 4000 rpm with a 0.5 - 1mm stroke.
Some of these come on a flexshaft which would be ideal.
Other than these I am having trouble thinking of any other oscillating motors with those sorts of specs.
Otherwise in the case of an ultrasonic knife, can anyone suggest a brand / model of ultrasonic hobby knife that won't break the bank ?
In either case, is there an example of a 4th axis setup out there that I could look at for ideas on how to hold and control this tool parallel to the z axis ?
Many thanks for any help with this build.
