Swiss turning in Western Australia

As a user Citizen lathes before I moved to WA, I have not heard or seen much regarding sliding heads over here.

Does any body know of dealers servicing WA for Citizen or Star and the support available?

I don't need anything machined, just a general inqury as to the availabilty and support and if many shops use them if at all. Back in the UK I knew of a few shops that operated swiss lathes but they don't seem that popular over here.

Hi cnc hammer. I run a small shop using citizen lathes. I have ran them for the past 6 years and have found that service for them is very poor. A local Mazak dealer has the agency and has previously sent a service technician that has no experience in citizen only mitsubishi and charges fanuc hourly rates. Mark up on spare parts is also very high. If anyone needs swiss turning done gimme a call.

Hi cncmedcom, that is exactly what I thought the case would be. I suppose you manage to get by though what machines do you run?

F and L series. wish there was the tooling and centreless ground annealed material that is available in the US it would make sliding head turning a lot less stressful.

Yeah that annealed bar is fantastic. We used it in the UK for a specific job that kept on bending due to the stresses, we chucked up the annealed bar after a conflab with the suppliers and hey presto.
Of course then some office walla decided in order to 'save' money we would have to use the old crappy bar and we were making bananas again. I wonder how many extra lengths of material we used up in order to get the correct quantity out the door?
