I have a F 20 citizen and for some reason it is cutting off parts short by as much as 1/2", tried several different programs and same result. Anyone have any ideas what can be the problem. Thanks. Cutting M2.

material getting stuck in GB
incorrect cut-off shift
material slipping in Main collet while turning, drilling ect
these are just a few...
good luck
^^ x2.
where is the short dimension on the part? if you look closely and find out where the problem is occuring, then you can narrow down the root causes.
Example, if a drilled hole on the end is short too, then the material is probably pushing back in the main chuck. OR if the front of the part is missing, clean out your main chuck real well, or put a G04 at the end the program on the line after where the chuck opens(M7 on my citizens) and the next line. or if you can, add a little more weight to your bar pusher. We have crappy gravity-feed pushers, so its easy to add a little more weight to the rope. I'm always maeein with those things >_<
explain your problem in a littl emore detail, i've found that always helps on this site![]()
9 times out of 10 it's the bar feed.
When I ran our swiss lathe, most of the time the material (bar) was bent in a spot..once it got past this point...it was all good.
Check to see how tight your main spindle is clamped onto the bar?
With the chuck open..see how easy the material slides thru by hand.
It could be all in the set-up. Maybe your guide bushing is too tight?
Look at each variable..you will find the problem.
When in doubt..switch out the guide bushings and collets and clean everything really good.
Hope this helps out.
