    Fanuc Control Parameter

    Machine: 2011 SR20J Swiss Star

    Control: Fanuc 31i B Series

Problem: Need to unlock Protected Programs in the 9000 range.

Why: Need to assign 9012 (Top Cut Program) a new Program # (if possible) or output an existing Top Cut Program off another machine and input it into another.

I havent done this on a 31i control, but the following works on an 18i-TB and some earlier ones too like a 16i and the LE series

-On the computer open up the program you want to send.
-Change the program number to anything besides a 9000. (I usually do 00## with the number I want to change it to, so 9012 would be 0012)
-Load the program into the machine as usual as prog # 0012.
-Go to edit and select the program # with the cursor.
-type in the 9000 number you want it to be and hit Alter.

Let me know if it works!

I tried looking through my manuals but I only have 31i model A books.

I know there is a way to lock and unlock my 9000 programs on my star 18i though..
unless you need a solution this weekend, I would say give star a call first thing monday morning, the guys there should be able to help you out, unless you're trying to do some funky stuff that would require you to pay them money normally.. I know the 9000 programs are stored as G codes and are typically options.. so best of luck to you.

    Not sure if this helps.
    For the 9000 9999 programs.

    One caution with that PDF:

DO NOT set passwords for that! If you do and somehow the password is forgotten, lost, or shipped out the door with the setup guy who just got binned, then the programs are locked out until you pay Fanuc technicians beaucoup bucks to fix it.

Should just be the ne9 parameter. Just did a 31i last week. Same parameter number as the rest of the i controls. 1 locks it, 0 unlocks it. You can also use the ne8 if you want a 8000 series program.
