Just a little tidbit: I have an older 320 and a newer one, and this function behaves differently on the newer one making this setting all the more critical.
On the newer 320 the mavd opens up at your predesired setting, but, about 200mm later it closes again. It opens just long enough for the pusher collet to make it through the mavd, and then closes on the pushrod free of the collet. This adds improved support, but failure to set this properly can result in either knocking the pushrod off the material, closing the rollers on the collet, and ultimately shredding your rollers. The pushrod follows once the collet is closed so the rollers closing add no friction other than a center support for the pushrod, as long as everything is aligned right. They open upon rechuck.
Older mavds get away with one constant setting. Eg. Jog to z- overtravel and set the mavd from there. With this new design I will have to make sure to pay much closer attention to this.
There is no setting I know of to stop it from reclosing, nor do I know of one for the distance the pusher must travel before it closes. It's actually pretty nice in retrospect because it gives the pushrod some support whereas otherwise it has none, and errant bent ends can cause quite a ruckus once the rod is fully unsupported.
What you really want to do is to go to start position on your citizen, or to z+ limit minus your part length, cutoff width and safe zone limit aka start position on your star and set your mavd from there. You can do this with no material in the machines and its easy to throw into your set up routine. I set this along with the part data just before I load a bar and begin main collet and guide bushing setting.

Oh and FYI, the setting you want described in the prior post is in the user setting page; you should not have to insert any passwords. Don't mess with the other vibration opening settings unless you have to for some odd unforseen reason (which unless someone messed with them you never will).
