CNC Swiss Drills

Does anyone know of a vender that sells/makes drills, for example, ER-16 collets that have a 3/8 shank with a drill size of say .450 or .500? or am I resigned to spinning down the shanks in my tool room? My machines are Star SR-20, SR-32J, and SB-16D CNC Swiss screw machines.

You did not say what make and model of machine you have. We had tool blocks that would handle up to 1" diameter on a Hardinge CHNC 2. We would regularly drill 13/16" using a split bushing to hold in the 1" tool block.

You may want to look at insert drills, some of these have smaller shanks.

Also, consider using an insert drill where the shank is ground to 22mm for the T11-T14 tool positions on the SR20R's

For the yellow Sr20's, you can get ER25 or ER32 holders that have 22mm shanks. I did this on my SR20.
