For those of you who use WIN CNC, do you store your program files in WIN CNC or do you use it for communication & program editing? I am running into problems storing programs in the WIN CNC program.

Normally I store my progams in folders seperated by the machine type and also save the parameter file in each folder.

I use it exclusively to store my programs.
What type of problem are you having?

I will assume you are talking about the Win-Cnc program sold by Citizen. (There is another product with that name).
When you save files for a certain "type" or model of machine it creates a "prm" file in that folder that makes it open in that format each time, 1, 2, or 3 dollar signs. This means you should have a folder for each type so you do not have to change that each time.
IF you are trying to save a file that is TOO large, I forget the limit, you will NOT be able to view it with Win-Cnc. This happens to me when I have surfacing in a program and there are too many lines.

You hit the problem on the head! I save programs for multiple machine types in the same "job" folder. The txt file that stores the parameters is constantly changing and a real headache. Is WIN CNC capable of storing multiple machine parameter files in one folder? Should I store the programs in another format and simply use WIN CNC for programming and transfer?

No, but why would you want to?
As cogsman1 has suggested you should have a folder for each machine type.
In that folder you have the paramater file.
Then store the programs for that machine type in that folder.
This keeps everthing organized and looking the way is should in the Win-CNC environment.

Not trying to be the devil's advocate here, but what happens if I want to store them under a customer's folder instead of the machine's folder? My programs are typically organized by customer. Not by machine. I know what machine they go in. But if I have two customers with the same part number of 5555, now I have to try to figure out what program each one is, what customer it's for, and then what machine to send it to. By customer is easy. I need the program for part number 5555 from customer A and I know that it runs in my E32. Part number 5555 for customer B may also run in my E32, but I don't know which is which until I open one up to look at it. Sounds like a pain in the back side if you ask me...But there are more than one way to do things, I guess. I just had to ask...LOL

I would have a folder under the customers name with another folder inside that one for each machine type. Inside each of those folders you would end up with that file which sets up how the viewing looks.
You could always just change that machine type, each time you need to, and only use one folder.
