I dont find it very time consuming at all to toss a tool in the machine.. TXXXX G0X(bar dia) put in tool, snug it down, jog x up, tighten down. good to go. A little different with the live and front/back working tools, but its pretty darn simple if you ask me, and the same amount of work is required for any preset tooling, you still have to MDI call the tool, move to a position etc. Even with 'standard' and 'set' tooling, youre ALWAYS going to have to change offset values just like you do with regular old tools. Heck, even when you change an insert this is necessary. for whats it worth, personally I dont think its worth the time, cost and energy put into preset tooling.

I would agree for the most part. However, when you have 30-40 of these machines along with thousands of part numbers and multiple employees of varying capabilities. I would think it would help reduce the set-up time of new jobs.

i use glens method on my stick tools i do a little presetting with my id tooling. i use shaft collars on the backs of the er holder, just push it in and tighten the set screws http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/116/1152/=7bxveg works awsome on drill bits boring bars you just have to write down the x offset or g50 it in your program
