    Miniature tube cutting

I'm trying to cut .042" tube stock to a length of 1.3". I'm trying to get by with just using a .032" groove tool to do the cut-off but, it's bending right now.

    Any suggestions?

I'd grind it. Make a little end-stop fixture to set the length and cut with a drop wheel (even an angle grinder bolted to a pivot) with a 0.040" thin abrasive cut off wheel.

With the right set up you could cut multiple pieces at once to speed the job right up.

Otherwise you could use a Dremel with a 1" cut off abrasive wheel, you may even be able to attach that to the lathe.

    761-x

761-x - high rake angle = low cutting force
iv used them to part .100 delren pins

ive got a couple if you have the holder

call me if you want to try one-

Grind up a "tube grind" cutoff tool ...usually when you are cutting off you have the cutoff angle in one direction only(toward the part you are cutting off), a tube grind has an angle in both directions.

From above the tool edge will look like a fishtail, or a V (the two top points of the V are the leading edges of your tool).
I hope this makes sense and helps you out!

Have you tried moving the cutting tool closer to the guide bush (.1-.5 mm gap)

I have used Max-bar in the past for small cutoff tools .02 to .025 wide.
