| I'd grind it. Make a little end-stop fixture to set the length and cut with a drop wheel (even an angle grinder bolted to a pivot) with a 0.040" thin abrasive cut off wheel. With the right set up you could cut multiple pieces at once to speed the job right up. Otherwise you could use a Dremel with a 1" cut off abrasive wheel, you may even be able to attach that to the lathe. |

| Grind up a "tube grind" cutoff tool ...usually when you are cutting off you have the cutoff angle in one direction only(toward the part you are cutting off), a tube grind has an angle in both directions. From above the tool edge will look like a fishtail, or a V (the two top points of the V are the leading edges of your tool). I hope this makes sense and helps you out! |
