| Hi all, we have a year 2000 Star SV32 Swiss screw machine, purchased used. The controller is a Fanuc 16i-T. The machine will either read coordinates of all linear axes in mm (G21 mode active) or centimeters (G20 mode active). The only thing that happens is that the decimal point moves left or right, with the numbers remaining true. An MDI program of G0 Z1.0 will move to an absolute position of either 1 mm or 1 cm, depending on which mode is active. Also, parameter 1001, bit 0 is the bit that toggles the "Least command increment on the linear axis" which is set at 1 (for inches on an inch system machine). Changing this bit to 0 does nothing with the coordinate system of the machine. We have called Fanuc and they did tell us that our imperial/metric conversion bit is in fact on when we examined a parameter on the machine. We can't figure out how to get the machine out of metric mode. As of now we have no ideas as to how to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. |

Hi all, problem solved. Parameter 1001, Least Increment Command on Linear Axis was set to 1: In inches (inch system machine) instead of 0: In mm(metric system machine). A value of 1 put our machine into a cm/mm mode. A value of 0 puts our machine into a inch/mm mode. |
