Please recommend on software for waterjets with slow down

Hello,
We have a workshop with two machines, one is a high rail gantry where the heads move, while the smaller one the XY table moves.

Up until now we've been using an old version of SigmaNest ver 5.5.
Recently we started getting jobs of cutting thick metals, and the result wasn't pretty. We believe the jet doesn't slow down at all when encountring radius, and corners. As our support days are over, we tried playing with the post processor as much as we can understand, but that didn't help.

Since SigmaNEST pretty much changed their software, they can only offer support if we upgrade to the new version for a large sum of money.

We would like to hear what software the forum members recommend.
We have to resolve this issue and start slowing down on corners and radiuses.
Should we upgrade to their latest version, or is there something else more efficient?

Additional Important features for us:
1. Part time estimating for job - depending on the feed and geometry length (no need for an actual cost feature).
2. Automatic nesting feature (also with part inside part).
3. Supporting latest formats of DXF, DWG from Autocad 2007, Also AI if possible.
4. Achieving a common cut taking the tool kerf into account.
5. Basic CAD abilities for common shapes and text.

Kindest regards,
Hagi

Hello Hagi,

We use ProNest by MTC Software. ProNest Nesting Software does all that you are asking and the product support is excellent.

I suggest giving MTC a call and talking to them. They give free working trials so you can run your machines in production before making a financial commitment. They set us up online in a few minutes. Try before you buy.....gotta love that.

Ramping compatible Software

Be very careful when your talking with "nesting" functionality versus ramping.

We do all of our nesting and posting with OneCNC Profiler.

We retrofitted our controller about 4-years ago with CAMSOFT. Its kind of expensive and way too configurable however with the SmartPath option it does fit the requisite waterjet cnc controller. Its reliable and predictable.

They will nickel and dime you on support so make sure you have it running perfectly in the first year. Their AS-3000 CAM software that come with it is totally crap, I would highly recommend OneCNC for posting.

After all of that i have considered mach 3 it does look as if it has ramping functionality. Its alot less expensive and i might try it one of these years due to the low cost aspect.
