Definitely do not use oxygen in a plasma cutter that is not specifically designed for oxygen use.....I have seen the torch and leads support combustion almost all the way back to the power supply.....meaning you can have a fire that is very difficult to extinguish!

Most plasma systems that are capable of cutting with oxygen are industrial oxygen plasma systems...which includes both High Definition and Conventional oxygen systems. The gas flow rates with these systems vary depending on what thickness and power levels you are using. Most industrial oxygen plasmas use a lower flow rate than small air plasmas as the torches are dual gas and liquid cooled. Dual gas means that they use oxygen as the plasma forming gas (low flow rate) and air as the shield gas (higher flow rate for cooling and additional arc constriction).....and liquid recirculating coolant to cool the electrode, nozzle and torch.

Thanks Jim , I actually was watching one of Hypertherms videos , thats where they mentioned it. They never said what type of plasma you could use oxygen with , just that it would give a better cut quality...
