| Hi, I'm another newbie in the DIY or Homebuild CNC world. Have been using a few CNC machines but never worried about how it work. Well the bug got hold of me and now I'm busy designing my own CNC Plasma Cutter. Didn't want to do it the "easy-way" by buying or downloading plans but I'm designing and drawing everything from scratch. So any do's and dont's will be welcome. |

| Hi Nixi, Welcome to CNCzone. You will no doubt get a lot of ideas & inspiration to enhance your own design by looking at other members projects in the sub forum for plasma build projects. It's not so much the "easy way" as part of the learning process. Read, study, plan & you will succeed. |

| Hi Weldtutor Thanks for the welcome. I hope I didn't offend someone buy saying that I'm not taking the "easy-way". If I did, guys, (and ladies) please accept my deepest apologies. The problem, or my problem is that because I'm a mechanical designer by occupation, designing from scratch is for me part of the challenge. Looking forward to hear more from everybody and “show&tell” what I'm doing. |

OTOH with age comes retrospect. For some it's the journey, for others the destination. There is no substitute for experience. |

I've met too many engineers with inflated egos and a total lack of appreciation for drawing, detailing, catalogues, suppliers, workers, sub-contractors and taking any sort of responsibility in making sure components fit together or even the right specifications are set to ever match their inflated egos so they can 'do things better.' |

There are many reasons. Just ask yourself if you want to learn how to make a machine or if you want to have an expensive white elephant. Edit. Lets put it like this: a machine that moves well will be of more use to you. |

| As far as machines go, aren't they one and the same until you start putting on a THC and other upgrades?
