Hi all can anyone assist with a question about the wire offset, current and voltage values when setting up the eroder (fanuc tape cut model h).I'm pretty new to these machines and alot of knowledge and paperwork has been lost over the years,i need to know if there is some sort of chart or equation to work out the offset/compensation of the wire compared with the material and thickness Many thanks Stevatome |

| I was hoping someone with your particular machine would chime in, but in lieu of that, generally.... EDM's come with a book of settings, several hundred pages, that specify the electrical settings and offsets for various combinations of work piece materials, cutting heights, and target results. On most newer machines this information is also in the control. Without that, you can develop your own settings as you go. I can describe how you do it, and give you some generic starting points, but suffice it to say it is a tedious process of trial and error that take careful observation while cutting, and equally careful analysis of the results. Your best bet is to try and find the proper documentation that would have come with the machine. Fanuc is still selling machines, hopefully they support their older models. Even if you have to pay for the books, it would be well worth it. Cheers! Roy Solomon |
