Im doing the last wiring on my plasma and was wondering if i need any special kinda cable to connect to the work clamp wire and heavy wire to read torch volts? Will regular electric wires used in home/walls do or do i need something fancier? |

| I assume you are talking about inside the plasma (?!). Use stranded Hookup cable (20 ga to 16ga) Insulation rated to min 250V (higher for HF start units). Crimp on connectors and find screw terminals or studs in the unit where those two signals connect inside the plasma. Typically there are screw terminals that are good spots to "steal" the readings. Find a terminal that has a wire directly to one of the two points you want to measure and connect your tip volts wires there. Some plasma units have special terminals for the raw tip volts. Twisting the wires around each other up to the point they enter the voltage divider (sensor card) is not a bad idea (but not required). The wires carry only small currents. Try to use two different colored wires to aid in troubleshooting in the future. |

| Thanks for your input, looks like im gonna need to get new cables. oh and by the way all the factory put in cables have a heat shield put on them does it really get that hot in a plasma unit? Last edited by KKamel; 02-08-2007 at 08:58 PM. |
