Hey guys, I'm hoping someone with experience can tell me if this is a stupid idea or not. Instead of a water table or downdrafting the whole table, what about using a weld fume extractor with a large duct or hood that follows the cutter around the table as it cuts? Is this going to capture at least the fumes? We'd enclose the bottom of the table to capture the big stuff, but rely on the fume extractor to take care of the fine dust, fume, and smoke. The reason behind this is if we downdraft, we have to filter the air. We can't just blow it outside due to regulations. This becomes expensive because of the capacity. |

| 90% of the dust/smoke is under the plate, maybe 99%. The dust will "leak" out around the ends of the plate. It works well on a welding head but not too good on plasma. If filtering is out of the question, then a water table will be your best option. They work well, containing at least 99% of the dust and smoke. WSS
