Check out powder coating for the container. It may be more costly BUT it is virtually bullet proof once applied and cooked.
We used it on some grinding wheel shields on our cam grinder. In spite of horrible impingment of water and grit by the 18" dia wheel spinnning at 1800rpm, the stuff still is there - no paint we tried would/could stay.
If you can get away with antifreeze, that stuff will do a nice job of preventing rust, for a while. You do have to watch the PH factor of the water.
You might also look into the use of water based cutting/grinding fluid (we use/like Valenite VNT700). In the proper sollution - it won't rust iron or steel cams which will rust HORRIBLY easily when exposed to plain water. |
