Preparing to build plasma table...

I am new to cnc but I have worked with electronics for 15 years off and on, by way of building computers and toying with other things around the house. I was also a technical support technician for Hobbico and Horizon Hobbies at one point in time. I have worked with servos quite a bit.

I found the plasmacam on the internet and it got me interested in starting a second business cutting. I don't have $10k or more to sink into a plasmacam or practicalcnc machine, so I have been researching building my own. I would appreciate any input as to my direction, other comments welcome.

I have purchased some linear actuators, servos and a driver board from a nice guy on ebay and when they arrive I plan to start building my table. I will place 2 actuators parallel to each other on each side of the table for my X axis, then the third actuator will rest on the carriages of the other two for my Y axis. Here is the details on the parts:

3 Stepper servos, 85 oz/in, six wire, single pole motors; 11.2 volt, 60 ohm
3 - 40" actuators (picture attached)
Allegro 4 axis controller / driver board

I realize that these servos are a little weak, but they will most likely be upgraded later once I get it all built within my budget. Also still looking for a plasma cutter with handheld torch to work with this.

Noticed you posted new photos a while back. Were you able to solve your motor difficulties?
